Charlie's birthmom came to our house for dinner this weekend. I had such a great time. I can't even express how wonderful it is to see that she is doing well and to get to watch Charlie play and interact with her. I think he is starting to know who she is and that she is holds a very important place in our hearts. He was totally showing off for her and giving her hugs and kisses (which he isn't over generous with usually). They got some alone snuggle time when she read to him and put him down to bed for the night.

The topic of babysitters came up and she mentioned that she would love to watch Charlie! I can't think of anyone I would trust more with him than his own birthmom. We live kinda far from each other, but I'm hoping to make that work out.

anyway, just wanted to share.

I totally understand how you feel. Only frustration is when you share that you would love it if BM babysat and people look at you like you've grown two heads. Ughh.
Glad you had a nice dinner. Open adoption is a wonderful thing and something I count my blessing for daily.
Hugs my friend!

I can see why people would think it is strange, but to me it shows the great bond and relationship you have with Charlie (And Jenn and Alex) that you see a relationship with BM as a benefit and not a threat.

Glad you had such a wonderful evening.

Awe, so glad you all had a nice visit with one another. How special that you stay close and share your lives together. I hope everything continues to go well and you are all able to work out some time where she can babysit and hang out with Charlie and you and DH can get some much deserved time off.
